Post Operative Care
Manual Lymph Drainage for Relief and Recovery

Services

Lymphatic Post-Operative Care, 60-70 minutes - $190
Sixty minutes of manual lymph drainage to help the body heal, relieving the pressure and swelling that follow surgical procedures. Fascia and scar-work included, as needed, in the later stages of recovery.

Only hands-on work is recommended for the first 12 weeks post-op, no vibrating machines on the traumatized tissue.

The schedule fills up quickly. Please book as soon as you know your surgery date.

Why Lymphatic for your Recovery

Manual Lymph Drainage accelerates the healing process. Surgery hinders the body's ability to move lymph fluid, leading to swelling and the formation of fibrotic scar tissue, which can undermine the effectiveness of your surgery and slow down recovery. Swelling, pain and bruising are to be expected after surgery, and Manual Lymph Drainage won't prevent that or provide a quick fix. The body needs time to recover. MLD accelerates recovery by moving lymph fluid and reducing swelling so the body can repair itself more quickly and more completely. Patients should experience noticeable benefit from the very first treatment!

The number of treatments needed will depend on the amount of swelling and on your responsiveness to treatment.

The recommended protocol is one treatment in the week prior to surgery, and a series of five to ten treatments afterwards, beginning some time between two days and two weeks post surgery, depending on your surgeon's preference.

  • Orthopedic surgery - studies have shown significant improvement in range of motion after 6 weeks of Manual Lymph treatments. (See Sources #2))
  • Breast cancer surgery - studies suggest Manual Lymph Drainage speeds recovery and may even reduce the risk of developing Lymphedema (See Sources #4)
  • Cosmetic procedures, including liposuction and abdominoplasty (tummy tuck) - Manual Lymph Drainage relieves pain and pressure, reduces swelling, and helps minimize scarring.
Manual Lymph Drainage is a very gentle, painless, non-invasive, relaxing technique that calms the nervous system, relaxes the body, and boosts the immune system.
